Abstract Non-equilibrium processes in Schottky systems generate by projection onto the equilibrium subspace reversible accompanying for which non-equilibrium variables are functions of ones. The embedding theorem guarantees compatibility with entropy is proved. defined as a state function on space containing contact temperature variable. If production does not depend internal energy, changes into thermostatic also non-equilibrium, fact allows to use primitive concept non-equilibrium. dissipation inequality revisited, and an efficiency generalized cyclic beyond Carnot process achieved.

Thermal Fluctuations in Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics
Thermal fluctuations in fluids and fluid mixtures in stationary nonequilibrium states are spatially long ranged. This long-ranged nature of the non-equilibrium fluctuations is caused by a coupling between hydrodynamic modes through the non-equilibrium fluxes or gradients. The phenomena are discussed with some illustrative examples in fluids and fluid mixtures.

متن کاملNon-equilibrium Thermodynamics
By designating a system as “near equilibrium”, we mean that the system is perturbed from its equilibrium state by some time-dependent external force f(t). The external force is deterministic, not random; typical examples include mechanical forces and forces due to an applied electric or magnetic field. This force drives the expectation values of some of the system’s observables away from their ...
متن کاملLocal non-equilibrium thermodynamics
Local Shannon entropy lies at the heart of modern thermodynamics, with much discussion of trajectory-dependent entropy production. When taken at both boundaries of a process in phase space, it reproduces the second law of thermodynamics over a finite time interval for small scale systems. However, given that entropy is an ensemble property, it has never been clear how one can assign such a quan...
متن کاملNon-Equilibrium Thermodynamics and Dynamics of Quantum Systems
This thesis is a study of non-equilibrium phenomena in quantum systems. Emphasis is given to the recently derived non-equilibrium fluctuation theorems, which relate the non-equilibrium response of a system to its equilibrium thermodynamic properties. We investigate the validity and importance of these theorems, from both a theoretical and experimental perspective, in systems ranging from a sing...
